Why Juice Fasting Helps Us Look Younger and Trimmer

Each of the trillions of cells in our body has a permeable membrane that enables it to take in nutrients and excrete waste. Cell membranes often become hardened, or rigid, thus the cells cannot properly excrete toxins that were previously trapped within them. Much of the reason for cell wall rigidity is because of the acidity of toxic waste that is caused by eating too much acid-producing food, constant stress, negative thoughts and emotions, and environmental toxins. The acidity in the fluids surrounding the cells changes them and they become hardened.

When the cells are not properly able to excrete the build-up of toxic and acidic waste, this condition affects their ability to produce energy. This is because the mitochondria, little structures within the cells that generate ATP (a form of chemical energy) become much less efficient at their assigned task of producing energy. The result is that we feel tired, worn-out, and lethargic and start looking older.

Along comes vegetable juice fasting to the rescue. It alkalizes the cells and the surrounding fluids so they can dump waste, while supplying antioxidant nutrients that help to neutralize the toxins. Fasting restores alkaline balance and enables cell walls to return to their ideal, permeable state. Once the cell membranes are softened, the process of dumping wastes is accelerated. Now the cells can again function at peak efficiency, something they may not have been able to do for many years.

If you’re doing the modified juice fast, you can take any of these juices, put them in your blender and add an avocado. This will make a great cold soup that is delicious and sustaining.

The Breakfast Zinger

3-4 medium carrots

1 small beet with leaves

1/2 cucumber

1/2 small or medium lemon (peeled if not organic)

1/2 to 1-inch piece fresh ginger root

1/2 green apple (optional)

Juice the carrots, beet, cucumber, lemon, and ginger. If you decide to use apple, remember that it will add extra fruit sugar (avoid if diabetic or hypoglycemic). Cut the apple into pieces and feed into the juicer tube after the ginger.

Stir the juice, and pour into a glass. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

Diets Don’t Work

A UCLA study (April 3, 2007) found that “you can initially lose 5 to 10 percent of your weight on any number of diets, but then the weight comes back,” said Traci Mann, UCLA associate professor of psychology and lead author of the study. “We found that the majority of people regained all the weight, plus more. Sustained weight loss was found only in a small minority of participants, while complete weight regain was found in the majority. Diets do not lead to sustained weight loss or health benefits for the majority of people.”

“Would they have been better off not going on a diet at all? We decided to dig up and analyze every study that followed people on diets for two to five years. We concluded most of them would have been better off not going on the diet at all. Their weight would be pretty much the same, and their bodies would not suffer the wear and tear from losing weight and gaining it all back.” 1

This is not to say that people should not lose weight.  It is to point out that adopting a healthier way of eating and a fitness lifestyle is the ONLY way to approach weight loss.

In June, 2014, I first began juicing. Within the first month, I drastically reduced my high sugar consumption to almost total elimination. I vigilantly maintained that for one year. June, 2015, a little more sugar crept in. As the months went on, though I kept juicing, sugar got more of a foothold. The holidays were tougher to get thru. By the end of this winter, I had stopped juicing and was back in the sugar bowl. Oddest thing. In the past, sugar had been ‘helpful.’ Calming, rewarding and something I used to manage my energy. Lesson 1 We’re going to kick off your fitness plan with options.  You can choose a quick start plan of one, two, or three days of juice and/or green smoothie fasting.

Lesson 2 This is the part where the fun begins, the part that gets your weight loss process going quickly with meal plans and recipes. This lesson is a 7-Day Menu Plan with recipes.

Lesson 3 is about exercising.  In order to burn fat faster, you need to know HOW to exercise the right way. There are ways of exercising that don’t get the best results and then there are other ways that really help you shape your body well so that you’ll not only be slim, but strong. You’ll be able to enjoy a healthy firm body.

Lesson 4 is probably the most crucial one to make your weight loss lasting. It eliminates everything that leads to weight gain on the PHYSICAL level, such as imbalanced pH leaning toward too much acid, heavy metals, and toxins. We’ll discuss cleansing programs and pathways of elimination. If you don’t take care of these aspects you can lose 100 pounds or more, but you will gain your weight back and then some. Therefore, this is one of the most important modules. We’ll also discuss cravings and what causes us to crave certain foods.

Lesson 7 is about goal setting and goal achievement. Here you’ll learn how to achieve and maintain your weight goal and any other goal in your life. You will learn how to win your weight loss battle.

THERE IS NOTHING LKE FRESH JUICE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH! It is made from raw plants, which means that it has a high vibration. It’s LIVE food that is broken down so well it can go right into your cells to energize and renew your body. It comes from the earth. The little roots from the plants pull in minerals from the soil and with the help of the son, convert them into organic elements your body needs for your health.

If you want to heal your body or simply keep your sparkling health, juice is your answer.  There is NOTHING that compares with it, not even a green smoothie.

The Basics of Juicing

There are just a few things you’ll need to start juicing like a champ.

  1. Get a good juicer you’ll enjoy using. I love my Nama juicer. It’s a masticating juicer also known as cold-press. It’s easy to clean, extracts the most juice from the produce that I’ve seen, and is easy to clean. I’ve actually saved money on produce. I used to spend double for veggies. For example, I now use 1 bunch of celery for 2 glasses of juice rather than 2 bunches for 2 glasses (made with the centrifugal juicer.) It’s well made and doesn’t take up a lot of space on the counter. You can take 10% off with my code Juicelady.

TWO TYPES OF JUICERS

  1. Centrifugal juicer. Spins and bursts open the plant’s cells releasing the juice. Juice pours from one spout and the pulp is ejected into the pulp catcher. These juicers have a wide mouth so you don’t have to cut up most of the produce. Because of the fast spinning, more oxygen is introduced to the juice. This can destroy a few more nutrients. Most models are easy to clean.
  2. Masticating juicer or Cold Press juicer. Presses the produce and squeezes out the juice. Because of the pressing process, fewer nutrients are lost. The opening is smaller so you will need to cut produce into smaller pieces. Some models are easy to clean; some involve more work

Note: Some manufacturers call their blenders juicers. If a machine keeps all the produce in one container, it is a blender.

What is the best juicer? The one you’ll use every day.

Why juice? Why not just eat the fruits and vegetables?

First, you can juice far more produce than you would probably eat in a day. It takes a long time to chew raw veggies. Chewing is a very good thing. However, there’s only so much time you have for chewing up raw foods. Secondly, you can juice parts of the plant you would not normally eat, such as broccoli and asparagus stems, radish leaves, cucumber peels, and lemon seeds. I include things I never eat such as beet stems and leaves, celery leaves, the white pithy part of the lemon, and kale ribs.

Why juice is so powerfully healing and energizing.

 it’s estimated that juice is at work in the system in about twenty to thirty minutes after drinking it. And when it comes to ailments, juice is therapy. When the body has to work hard to break down veggies, for example, it can spend a lot of energy on the digestive process. Juicing does the work for you. So when you drink a glass of fresh juice, all those life-giving nutrients can go to work right away to energize, heal, and repair your body.

What about the fiber that’s lost in juicing?

It’s true that we need to eat whole vegetables, fruit, sprouts, legumes, and whole grains for ber. We drink juice for the extra nutrients; it’s better than any vitamin pill. Fresh juice is one of the best vitamin/mineral cocktails you could drink. You may not need as many nutritional supplements when you juice, so that could save you a lot of money in the long run. Drink your juice as a smart addition to your high- ber diet that you will get from raw foods, legumes, sprouts, and vegetable dishes.

How long can you store fresh juice?

The sooner you drink juice after you make it, the more nutrients you will get. However, you can store juice and not lose too many nutrients by keeping it cold and covered, such as in an insulated container or in a covered jar in the refrigerator. If you fill the container up to the top and get rid of as much air as possible, you will have less oxidation. You can also freeze juice. Leave some room at the top so your container won’t burst when frozen.

Start with good recipes.

If you’re new to juicing, get some good recipes. Otherwise, you might ditch the whole thing because the juice does not taste good.  I recommend these books to help you get started.
