3 Energy Boosting Juices

Now that fall is in full swing and we’re heading into the holiday season, you’ll want to boost your energy with beautiful juices that actually work on a cellular level to give you more energy. If you’re having trouble getting up in the morning or keeping your energy up in the afternoon, get more fresh juice in your life. Include more of these colorful juices in your recipe blends this month.

1 – Spinach Juice

Spinach is rich in iron—an important nutrient in the transport of oxygen. A deficiency can cause chronic fatigue.

2 – Citrus Juice (Lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit)

Citrus is rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids, and especially the white pithy part we don’t often eat. These two nutrients work together synergistically to, among many things, help your body form amino acids, which are precursors to substances that regulate your energy levels. Add lemon or lime juice to any recipe for a lovely splash of vitamin C and flavor. And, when you include vitamin C with your iron-rich foods such as spinach, you increase the absorption of iron many fold. One of the first signs of vitamin C deficiency is fatigue.

3 – Dark Leafy Green Juices (Kale, Chard, Spinach, Parsley, Lettuce)

Magnesium is essential for metabolizing carbohydrates into energy. Some of these energy-providing green vegetables also provide this important mineral.  It’s actually better than coffee for energy. Here’s why: Magnesium is a required component in the production of ATP—a coenzyme that transports energy fuel. It acts as a “sort of chemical battery, powering numerous functions and processes – including our mitochondria’s ability to create more ATP from food.” Trillions of processes in the body are dependent on ATP for energy and ATP is dependent on magnesium.

Energy Boosting Juice Cocktail

  • 1 cucumber, peeled if not organic
  • 2 ribs celery
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled if not organic
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 2 leaves of kale or chard

Juice all ingredients, stir, and enjoy!
