3 Signs You Need A Sugar Detox

Does Sugar Have a Hold on You?

1. Once you start eating sugary foods, you just can’t stop.

This is almost a sure sign you have an addiction to sugar. Here’s the scenario: you intended to eat only one piece of your favorite sweet, but once you finish that, you want more. And that isn’t enough. Before you know it, you’ve eaten the whole thing and you still want more. Like a morning-after hangover, you have feelings of regret immediately after downing the last piece.

2.  You crave simple carbs.

Though not sweet, you crave bread, bagels, muffins, croissants, white rice, potatoes, or crackers. Starchy foods are a must have food. These foods turn to sugar easily and feed your sugar addiction.  They’re just sneakier because they aren’t sweet.

3.    You eat sweets until you feel sick.

Have you ever eaten so many sweets that you get symptom such as headaches, gas, bloating, foggy brain, fatigue, irritability, or sleepiness?  These can be symptoms of a sugar hangover. How often do you do this? You know that bingeing on sugar will make you feel this way but you do it anyway. The short-term mini high of eating the cake, cookies, or chocolate blinds you from the unpleasant aftereffects.
