Do You Need A Heavy Metals Detox?

We’re bombarded by chemicals from hundreds of sources that are very destructive to the body.  Many of them are neurotoxins, which are exogenous chemicals that are destructive to nerve tissue, and include heavy metals such as lead and aluminum, fungi, viruses, and other pathogens, pesticides, drugs, and food additives…These toxic bad guys get absorbed by nerve endings and make their way to the nerve cells. On their journey through the nervous system and when they reach the nerve cells, they can do much harm. They impact functions that are controlled by hormones or nerve impulses.  As they disrupt nerve transmissions, they can cause a host of problems including foggy brain, insomnia, numbing, burning, or stinging sensations, pain throughout the body, loss of memory, depression, muscle spasms, chronic fatigue, and depression.

Dr. David Williams says one of the best ways he’s found to detox from neurotoxins is what he calls the “poor man’s chelation.”  He sites a study by Dr. Yoshiaki Omura with the Heart Research Foundation in New York who “discovered a unique and easy way to remove heavy metals like mercury, lead, and aluminum. [Dr. Omura] and his colleagues were using antibiotics and antiviral compounds to treat infections, but they were having little long-term success. Patients’ symptoms would disappear, only to recur within a few months. Upon further investigation Dr. Omura found that these patients had localized deposits of mercury, lead, aluminum, or a combination, and the infectious bacterial and viral agents continued to grow and multiply in these areas. Apparently, in the presence of these heavy metals, the antibiotics and antiviral compounds lost their ability to function. While Dr. Omura was testing the urine of one patient, he discovered that mercury levels in the urine increased significantly after the patient consumed Vietnamese soup, which contains cilantro. Through further testing, Dr. Omura found that consumption of cilantro accelerated the excretion of lead, [mercury], and aluminum deposits from the body. When he had his patients regularly consume fresh cilantro or cilantro juice and then use antibiotics or natural antivirals such as the EPA and DHA in fish oil, the infections were permanently cleared.” (http://www.drdavidwilliams.com/cilantro-clay-for-detoxification/; accessed April 23, 2016)

Dr. Omura performed another study in which he tested a patient that had three amalgam fillings (fillings with mercury) removed with the proper procedure.  Later he found “significant amounts of mercury in the individual’s lungs, kidneys, endocrine organs, liver, and heart” where there had been no mercury in these tissues before.

Cilantro has demonstrated excellent results in removing heaving metals from the body.  As I watched a special on Flint, Michigan’s health crisis over lead in the water, I thought about this similar remedy for the huge health problems this community faces.  How I wish I could tell every resident of Flint to start drinking cilantro juice or eat cilantro in soups and salads 1/4 cup (packed) of cilantro, stems and leaves, each day.  Now you know the remedy. You can start right away.  We are all exposed to heavy metals all the time these days.  We need a cilantro cleanse from time to time.

But be aware that cilantro can root out more heavy metals than your body can easily eliminate.  Therefore, it’s important to keep them from being deposited in the colon or absorbed back into your bloodstream. To prevent this, use bentonite clay during your cilantro detox.  For two weeks., take 1 to 2 teaspoons of bentonite clay (the one for internal use only) mixed in juice or water three times a day between meals.  I recommend Toxin Absorber because it’s already measured for you and is mixed with fiber.  You may want to get the full Colon Cleanse Kit.

If you experience headaches, flu like symptoms, nervousness, fever, or nausea, you should consume less cilantro to slow down the release of heavy metals, but take the same amount of bentonite clay.  One fantastic result is greatly improved energy and a sense of well being.

  • 2 tomatoes, cut in chunks
  • 1 cup fresh carrot juice (about 5–7 carrots)
  • 1 lemon, juiced, peeled, if putting it through a juice machine
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, rinsed and chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 small jalapeño, chopped (more if you like it hot)
  • 3 radishes

Place the tomato chunks in a freezer bag and freeze until solid. This is optional.  (Or you can use fresh tomatoes placed in the blender.)  Pour the carrot and lemon juices into a blender and add the frozen tomato chunks, cilantro, salt, cumin, jalapeño, and radishes. Blend on high speed until smooth, but slushy; serve immediately.
