Juice Fast & Unzip Your Fat Cells

Do you feel stuffed right now? Maybe toxic from all the holiday food? You’re not alone! As careful as I tried to be, I succumbed to the cheese. There was a superb melt-in-your-mouth French cheese, some blue in the salad, a stuffed baked potato— all in one night…. Ay, Yi, Yi!   I felt like I had the flu a couple hours later, and then I realized my body was really distressed from all the dairy. Time to cleanse.

We know that toxins get stored in fat cells. That’s the safest place to stuff them. Safe for your organs, but that isn’t the formula for losing weight. You see your body will hang onto those little storage units no matter what to protect your organs and tissues. So how do you unzip those fat cells and let the toxins go?   Juice fast for one. Even short fasts are beneficial in removing toxins and giving you a greater sense of well-being. I believe that juice fasting is far superior to water fasting because it offers you easy-to-absorb nutrients that helps your cells unload the toxins. With all the nutrients, your cells can let go of toxins because the antioxidants from the juices bind to toxins, rending them harmless, and carrying them out of the body. Fasting also gives your digestive system a rest. Then your body has more energy for repair and rejuvenation. And juice fasting helps you to develop a taste for fresh live food so the weight loss continues. If you don’t make a distinctive break from all the fattening holiday food, your taste buds will keep craving more and more. And, oh my, that is not a good thing for the waistline, hips, and thighs.

Cleanse Your Colon

When you get the toxins out of your cells, you need to eliminate the toxic waste. One or two well formed bowel movements every day is one of the best ways to give toxins a one-way ticket out of your body. As many as 20 percent of Americans struggle with constipation and, the problem can get worse with age. But even with normal bowel movements, there still seems to be a lot of waste that hangs around on the colon walls. This is where colon cleansing comes to the rescue. Fiber cleans your colon by making the stool heftier and easier to expel. Bentonite clay has a drawing action pulling debris off the colon wall. Also, drink plenty of water. If the colon sucks too much moisture out of stool, it dries and hardens, which can lead to pebble-like or hardened stools and constipation. Drinking more water and other liquids during the day (at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water) can make your stools softer and easier to expel. I also recommend taking probiotics, vitamin C, and extra magnesium in the form of magnesium citrate.

  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1-2 carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed, ends trimmed
  • 1/2 cucumber, peeled
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled
  • 1-inch chunk ginger

Cut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube. Juice ingredients and stir. Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.
