Juice Fasting: The Quintessential Summer Fast

Want to drop a few pounds fast?  Need to refresh your body and detox? Summer’s in full swing and the “lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer” are upon us.  I loved that Nat King Cole song! It’s much easier to do a juice fast when the weather is warm.

Here are just a few of the great benefits of juice fasting:

  • Improved mental clarity and focus

I’ve experienced all of the above and more.  My first 5-day juice fast, my body expelled a tumor.  For real! And scores of people I’ve worked with who have embarked on my juice fast program have praised the benefits of juicing fasting as well.  But be ware.  There are naysayers who will tell you a juice fast doesn’t offer benefits.  I think they haven’t tried it.  Or they didn’t do one properly, like perhaps drinking only fruit juice, which is not a good idea.  it’s too much fruit sugar. I have actually read articles that say it does nothing for your digestive tract or little to enhance the detoxification process.  That simply is not true. Flood your body with an abundance of antioxidants such as you find in fresh veggie juice, and you will detox. Your body just can’t help but release toxins stored up in fat cells.  And it will do so safely because the antioxidants bind to toxins and carry them safely out of your body. I’m a veteran juice faster and I KNOW this works.  But don’t just take my word for it.  Try it yourself.  Experience the wonderful benefits of juice fasting.  I think you’ll be amazed.  And what have you got to lose?  You’ll be drinking fresh veggie juices afterall.  What could be better than that?

    I wonder if I could have the recipe again for the dehydrated tortilla chips you had a couple weeks ago?

    • Raw Enchiladas
      Corn Tortillas
      5 ears of corn with kernels cut off the cob
      2 tablespoons psyllium husk (not seed)
      Water as needed

      To make the tortillas: Place the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. Batter should be about the consistency of pancake batter. Place large spoonfuls of batter on dehydrator sheets. Using a spoon, swirl batter in a circular motion to shape into rounds to your desired tortilla size. Dehydrate about 4 hours. Flip tortillas and dehydrate another 2 hours or until no longer wet yet soft and easy to roll. Don’t leave in the dehydrator too long, or the tortillas will get hard. If that happens, you can make tostadas.
      This recipe makes about116 to 20 tortillas.

  3. Dear Cherie,
    I would like to try you juice fast with you on August 1. Are there any restrictions on exercise as I lead a walking group doing 4 miles 4/5 days a week.

    • No you are not restricted on exercise. Walking is good. I don’t recommend strenuous exercising for that 5 days.

  4. Can I do the juice fast without a juicer? I have a vitamix and make stuff that way. I am not going to get a juicer or strain, so will it still work?

    • You can’t do a juice fast without a juicer. But you can do a smoothie fast with a blender. You can strain the mixture.
