Tips for Beating the Heat

Summer Pick-Me-Up…

Fatigue is the number one health complaint. Is that you? Are you tired this summer? Maybe it’s the heat and humidity that are draining your energy. Or it could be your adrenals need a boost. Then again, it might be toxins clogging up your liver—your fat burning organ and a key organ in preventing fatigue.

One of our air conditioners blew out yesterday right in the middle of 107 degree weather. It looks like it may be repaired tomorrow. We can hardly wait. The good news is that the air conditioning unit for our bedroom is fine. It’s the cool place in our house. Meanwhile, I’ve been practicing some of these tips myself.

Here are some summer pick-me-up energizing tips:

  1. Start your day with fresh juice. It’s energizing.
  2. Stay hydrated. Drink at least 8 glasses of water. Nothing can make you tired like getting dehydrated.
  3. Put a couple of drops of peppermint oil on a tissue and breathe in. Or put a couple drops on your wrists; it feels very cooling. (my favorite!)
  4. Get refreshing sleep. If your adrenals are exhausted, you may not sleep well.
  5. Support your adrenals with Vitality Renew. If you have adrenal exhaustion, get my book Remedies for Stress and Adrenal Fatigue with the supplement Vitality Renew. Also, increase your vitamin C. The adrenals need a lot of this vitamin.
  6. Lose a few pounds with my Sipping Skinny Program, which starts Monday. Losing a bit of weight is energizing in itself. This will give you a great summer boost.

Recipe

Adrenal Booster Cocktail

Hot peppers and parsley are rich in vitamin C; celery is a great source of natural sodium.  Both are very beneficial for the adrenal glands.

  • 4 carrots, scrubbed well, green tops removed, ends trimmed
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 handful parsley
  • Dash of hot sauce
  • Dash of celery salt.

Cut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube. Juice ingredients and stir. Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.
