Water Retention?

Try These 4 Remedies

Have you been retaining water? There’s a lot you can do to improve bloating, swelling and the appearance of weight gain due to water retention.

Water retention, or edema as it is also known, occurs when water is retained in body tissues. Normally, fluid is drained from the body through the lymphatic system, which is a network of tubes or vessels that run throughout the body. It removes waste and empties it back into the bloodstream. But there is retention of water when the lymphatic system does not remove fluids properly. Then we see swelling in the abdomen, thighs, hands, feet or arms.

Water retention can fluctuate normally. Most people retain about five pounds of fluid in spaces that surround the cells. But some people can retain as much as eight to ten pounds of fluid or even more. There are a number of things you can do to improve this situation.

1) Lymphasizer

This last week I spoke with a lady whose friend had been retaining significant amounts of water after some medical treatments. She got the lymphasizer and within a short period of time, her ankle swelling had reduced significantly. I’ve heard this story many times. The lymphasizer is a machine that was designed by a Japanese doctor to move the body like a fish moves through water. It is excellent at stimulating  the lymphatic system. It follows the same concept as a rebounder. But I’ve found there are many people who either can’t use a rebounder because of physical limitations or they just don’t have room for one. The lymphasizer is only about 12 inches by 12 inches. It stores easily. You can use it on your bed or simply lie on the floor. Set your remote timer and it does the rest. It can help you lose water weight and improve your health.

2) Dry brushing

One simple home remedy is dry brushing. As you brush your skin with a natural bristle bath brush always moving upward and toward your heart, you can stimulate your lymphatic system and aid your body in flushing out toxins and fluids along with stimulating your metabolism. This should help you lose a few pounds.

3) Reduce salt

Salt will cause your body to store water. Use only sea salt and not a lot of that. Eat potassium-rich foods that include bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, apricots, grapefruit, cooked spinach, cooked broccoli, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, peas and cucumbers.

4) Juice every day

Recently I spoke with a lady who started juicing of late. She had struggled with water retention most of her adult life. No one was able to help her. Within a few days of juicing, her edema corrected and ended a long time of frustration. Started juicing faithfully everyday.
