Diets Don’t Work

A UCLA study (April 3, 2007) found that “you can initially lose 5 to 10 percent of your weight on any number of diets, but then the weight comes back,” said Traci Mann, UCLA associate professor of psychology and lead author of the study. “We found that the majority of people regained all the weight, plus more. Sustained weight loss was found only in a small minority of participants, while complete weight regain was found in the majority. Diets do not lead to sustained weight loss or health benefits for the majority of people.”

“Would they have been better off to not go on a diet at all? We decided to dig up and analyze every study that followed people on diets for two to five years. We concluded most of them would have been better off not going on the diet at all. Their weight would be pretty much the same, and their bodies would not suffer the wear and tear from losing weight and gaining it all back.” 1

This is not to say that people should not lose weight.  It is to point out that adopting a healthier way of eating and a fitness lifestyle is the ONLY way to approach weight loss.

“In June, 2014, I first began juicing. Within the first month, I drastically reduced my high sugar consumption to almost total elimination. I vigilantly maintained that for one year. June, 2015, a little more sugar crept in. As the months went on, though I kept juicing, sugar got more of a foothold. The holidays were tougher to get thru. By the end of this winter, I had stopped juicing and was back in the sugar bowl. Oddest thing. In the past, sugar had been ‘helpful.’ Calming, rewarding and something I used to manage my energy. For decades, I used sugar for energy and reward. After juicing for about 20 months, going back to sugar wreaked havoc with my system. Before, it had been calming. This time, I got agitated, cranky, hyper, restless and had no peace. Pleasure/reward wasn’t there longer than a few seconds. The good things I’ve been doing since June, 2014 appear to be stronger than the decades of poor habits. “Every year I go with my husband to a very formal event for his work. I spend weeks finding just the right dress – gotta try to hide all the bulges! It’s fun to be Cinderella for a night, but hard to get all dressed up and feel good knowing my “bingo wings” are flopping in the breeze every time I move! This year it seemed all the dresses I could find were strapless, which would be tragic on me. Every year I tell myself I won’t be fat next year when I go to the ball, but it always sneaks up on me. I end up heavier than the year before.

At my heaviest, I was 177. I think I was about 174 when I got serious. My short-term goal was to get to 160 in time for the ball. I’m happy to report that when I stepped on the scale yesterday morning I was 159! Still more to go, but it’s been many years since that 2nd number on the scale was a 5!

I had a magical night last night. I don’t know how many women came up to me and complimented my dress – and so did my husband, who said he was with the prettiest woman there!

Now I can’t wait to go back for my next follow up with my doctor! I truly thought I couldn’t lose weight when my thyroid quit working. Now I know that was just a cop-out on my part. It CAN be done! I am hoping to encourage others to stick with this program. I’ve found that when I eat actual food that God put here for our nourishment, it satisfies my body in a way no chemicals from McDonalds ever could.”  – Jill

Judy has currently lost 48 pounds. “When I first started the program, I was overwhelmed. The reading, all those vegetables, what goes with what, opening the overstuffed refrigerator to see the jungle of veggies fall out all over the floor. How much to buy, what’s in each bag, where’s the bag of cilantro, where’s the bag of kale, where’s the celery… Others in the group were efficient and organized, up for the challenge of the three-day juice fast, ready to tackle the moon and back.

That first week, all I could manage to do was read the lesson, do the water requirements and figure out how to work the juicer. I chose a few recipes, went to the grocery store and juiced for the first time. Everything in disarray, my counter filled with foreign green things, can’t find anything and I’m seriously looking at dumping all of it in the trash.

I took a few deep breaths, determined what and how much could I do, what bothered me the most. I decided I had to pick a time of day to juice, stick to it, organize that refrigerator, make this into an adventure and make this journey my own.

Six or seven months in, I knew I had made a significant transformation when after a trying sequence of events, I sought refuge in the produce department, never once taking note of the tables of baked goods strategically placed as a blockade to ensnare.

A year later, I still have strongholds to tear down and battles to win. I’m ready to stay in the fight, move forward and take new ground.” – Judy

What You Can Expect

There are an amazing eight weeks ahead of you, and you can really look forward to each week and the new things you can put into practice to make a difference in your life.

Here is what we are going to cover in the 4 weeks:

Lesson 1 We’re going to kick off your fitness plan with options.  You can choose a quick start plan of one, two, or three days of juice and/or green smoothie fasting.

Bonus Lesson – Healthy Supplements to support weight loss.

Lesson 2 This is the part where the fun begins, the part that gets your weight loss process going quickly with meal plans and recipes. This lesson is a 7-Day Menu Plan with recipes.

Lesson 3 is about exercising.  In order to burn fat faster, you need to know HOW to exercise the right way. There are ways of exercising that don’t get the best results and then there are other ways that really help you shape your body well so that you’ll not only be slim, but strong. You’ll be able to enjoy a healthy firm body.

Lesson 4 is probably the most crucial one to make your weight loss lasting. It eliminates everything that leads to weight gain on the PHYSICAL level, such as imbalanced pH leaning toward too much acid, heavy metals, and toxins. We’ll discuss cleansing programs and pathways of elimination. If you don’t take care of these aspects you can lose 100 pounds or more, but you will gain your weight back and then some. Therefore, this is one of the most important modules. We’ll also discuss cravings and what causes us to crave certain foods.

Lesson 5 moves into the emotional level to start changing your mindset and what triggers emotional eating. Without addressing emotional dependence on food and your current mindset, your weight and health will always bounce back and forth. You’ll learn how to deal with emotions and what causes binging and emotional eating.

Lesson 6 is about improving the quality of your sleep. As you may already know if you can’t sleep well, losing weight is difficult. When you don’t get enough quality sleep, your hormones that promote hunger and cravings go up and your appetite control hormones go down.

Lesson 7 is about goal setting and goal achievement. Here you’ll learn how to achieve and maintain your weight goal and any other goal in your life. You will learn how to win your weight loss battle.

Most diets are based on the quantity factor–fewer calories, less fat, less carbs…but, what they completely ignore is the quality factor. The reason so many people crave various foods is that they lack quality food that offers enough vital nutrients to keep them healthy. It’s a known fact that our fruits and vegetables have considerably fewer nutrients than forty years ago.  No wonder people are more hungry. This is why we eat a meal and still want something more to eat shortly after. The fact is—your body is lacking some very vital nutrients, especially when you are on a diet.  This program is based on quality.  That’s where juicing and/or green smoothies make a difference.  They offer a concentration of nutrients along with knowing how to choose nutrient dense foods.
