Celery Juice Shown to Inhibit Cancer

The humble little celery stick has been served on veggie plates at more parties than most of us can count. We take it for granted yet it has powerful healing properties.

Celery has been shown to be effective in killing ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, breast, liver and lung cancer cells. The flavonoids apigenin and luteolin combat free radicals. Apigenin was found to inhibit the initiation, progression, and metastasis of tumors. Apigenin has been found to inhibit angiogenesis, thus depriving tumors of blood, oxygen, and nutrients they need to survive. Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels.  Apigenin interferes with molecular signaling, decreasing the production of chemicals needed by cancer cells.

The process of angiogenesis is controlled by chemical signals in the body. That is what we want to stop, so whether you have cancer or just want to prevent it, celery is important to include in your juice recipes.

Celery Lemonade

  • 3-4 ribs celery
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 green apple

Juice all ingredients, stir and enjoy.
