8  Reasons to Ditch Sugar

Here are a few TOP TIPS to help you shed those pounds and feel great:

  1. Sugar is a major contributor to inflammation. Inflammation is a top cause of heart disease and nearly all other diseases. You can read more about inflammation in my book The Juice Ladys Anti-Inflammation Diet.
  2. Sugar makes you fat.  It is loaded with calories that are stored in fat cells.
  3. Sugar will raise your cholesterol. For years we were told it was fat that raised our cholesterol, but sugar is worse.
  4. Sugar makes you nervous. There is a clear link between excess sugar and disorders like anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia, because of high levels of insulin and adrenalin that get released with sugar consumption
  5. Sugar causes diabetes, kidney and heart problems.  Excess sugar can damage the pancreas’s ability to function properly.
  6. Sugar destroys your teeth.  Sugar increases the bacteria in your mouth that erodes enamel. The biggest problem with many popular toothpastes is that they contain sugar. They are not required to put the sugar on the label.
  7. Sugar suppresses the immune system.  Sugar beats out vitamin C in your immune cells and weakens them.
  8. Sugar causes wrinkles. A high-sugar diet damages collagen, the layer just below the skin that gives you that youthful appearance.

Would you please check your list for typos and grammar before sending it out? I would love to share the information with others, but the mistakes discredit the source. (e.g. #6 last sentence the word “be” doesn’t look like it belongs. #7 the last word should be “them”.)

    • Laura, Thank you for pointing this error out. It has been corrected on the blog now, in case you wish to send it to someone.

    • I think you are being quite rude. Appreciate the time and caring it takes to share all of her beneficial knowledge with all of us. I know I do.

      • Thank you Brenda. I appreciate your comments. I don’t usually make errors like this, but I did a radio show from 11:00 to midnight and my eyes and brain were tired. Also appreciate your generosity in excusing by mistakes.

        • You’re welcome. You are such a nice and giving person. Like I said before, I appreciate all you do for everyone. Bless you.

    • There is one that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

      • Nita, thank you for such a lovely word. You are a blessing.

  2. #7 ends with “the.”

  3. Thank you for these. Does this also include carbs that turn into sugar?
    Also, number 7. “…weakens the…” what?

    • Weakens the immune system. And yes it does include carbs that turn to sugar easily.

  4. The March 15, 2015 article needs to be revised znd updated. You have clerical errors… #6, last sentence needs a word deleted to read correctly. In #7, the thought is left unfinished.

Thanks for your many efforts to enlighten us with nutrition knowledge. Have a good one!!

    • This has been corrected on the blog. Thank you for pointing this out.

You are indeed a blessing, a might vessel on this awesome journey of yours. Thank you for the outpouring of yourself into the lives of others. Would welcome consideration an event in Dallas area in future .

    • Thank you Peggy. May God bless you abundantly and may you prosper and be in health. We only do our retreats in Spokane area where we live since it’s very hard to take everything with us. The only time we could do something in another city is if someone did everything for us.

  6. Excellent reasons to give up sugar! Thank you Cherie!!

    • Thanks Karen. Yes indeed…many good reasons to give up sugar.

  7. Cherie. What are your thoughts on Agave as a form of sugar. I use it instead of white or raw sugar.

    • I don’t recommend agave because it is too high in fructose. It would be much better to use stevia (Sweet Leaf Vanilla Creme) or coconut nectar.

  8. Teressa Anderson

Thanks Cherie for all your info., typos and all, I knew what you meant…..some people are a little bit anal in their criticisms…. Anyway, I would like to hear more of your thoughts on coconut nectar, like what form does it come in, is it sweet like sugar and lastly, does it have an after taste? I don’t really like the after taste of Stevia.
    Thanks,
    Teressa

    • Coconut nectar is sweet but not overly sweet such as honey. It comes in nectar (a syrup) and coconut sugar. No aftertaste. Also Sweet Leaf Vanilla Creme stevia has no aftertaste.

  9. Hi Cherie,

Can damage to the collagen layer of skin be restored due to high sugar intake? If it can be restored what are the best juicing recipes from your books

    .

    • Collagen can be restored. Take extra vitamin C and juice lots of vegetables, particularly greens. Also, make sure you are getting enough amino acids.
