Cranberry Fat Buster Cocktail

I bought a luscious looking bag of organic cranberries yesterday at Trader Joe’s. This is the season! You can find them fresh in most grocery stores now. Stock up. They offer a lot of health benefits. Recent research has shown that the proanthocyanidins (PACs) in cranberries are responsible for the prevention of UTIs. The special structure of these PACs acts as a barrier to bacteria that might otherwise latch on to the urinary tract lining. They have also been shown to protect the cardiovascular system. They have anti-cancer properties. They are rich in vitamin C and are a natural diuretic. Go get some cranberries and juice them up!

  • 2 pears, Bartlett or Asian
  • 1 cucumber, peeled if not organic
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled if not organic
  • 1/4 cup cranberries, fresh or thawed if frozen
  • 1 chunk ginger root

TDCut produce to fit your juicer’s feed tube.  Turn off your machine to add the cranberries and top with the plunger before turning your machine back on (or they could fly out). Juice ingredients and stir.  Pour into a glass and drink as soon as possible.

Serves 1.
