My mother died of breast cancer when I was just six years old. It’s been my goal in life not only to prevent breast cancer myself but to help as many women as possible do the same. Following are three tips I consider very important in a woman’s lifestyle of prevention.

1. Thermography versus a mammogram.

Thermography is a breast cancer test that is used to detect cancer in women that have no symptoms. The beauty of this screening is that it records temperature changes on the surface of the skin. It uses an infrared thermal camera to take a picture of the areas of different temperature in the breasts. The camera displays these patterns as a sort of heat map.

The presence of a cancerous growth is associated with the excessive formation of blood vessels and inflammation in the breast tissue. These show up on the infrared image as areas with a higher skin temperature. Thermography does not compress the breast, is non-invasive and does not involve radiation. With a mammogram, the breast is compressed between two plates and an X-ray is taken. There are potential risks that include exposure to radiation which does have a small cancer risk. (1) On a personal note, I had thermography a couple years ago. I’d been having some burning sensations and some pain in my right breast. Thermography detected some “hot spots.” I got to work on prevention including taking two supplements my naturopath prescribed—DIM  and Healthy Cells Woman  I also included the other two suggestions in my lifestyle plan.

5 Ways to Get Thicker Hair and Stronger Nails

1. Get enough protein. If you want thick hair and strong nails, it’s all about getting enough protein (and other nutrients) along with digesting that protein efficiently. Your hair needs to produce keratin—a protein that makes hair strong. If you don’t get enough protein or if you don’t digest the protein well, hair will go into a “resting phase,” which causes noticeable hair loss. You can add protein powder to your green smoothies or juice.

2. Digest protein well; get enzymes. Systemic enzymes benefit your entire system. But specifically the enzymes I recommend help your body break down undigested proteins that circulate in the system. More digested protein means more availability for your hair and nails. These enzymes have actually helped me grow hair back. There was a time when my hair really thinned out. When I discovered these enzymes, my hair started growing and the hair I had also got thicker and stronger. I wouldn’t be without Ness #4 and # 16. They are different than other enzymes I’ve taken with meals, which did nothing to help my hair get thicker or my nails stronger.
